Holdsworth resigns

Former Bolton Wanderers striker Dean Holdsworth has resigned as a director of all group companies of the Championship club.

The 48-year-old's resignation comes nine days after his company Sports Shield BWFC Ltd was liquidated.

Sports Shield, along with chairman Ken Anderson's Inner Circle Investments, took over the Trotters in March 2016.

A winding-up petition was lodged against Sports Shield by BluMarble Ltd in relation to an unpaid £5m loan.

The loan, which is thought to be closer to £7m because of accumulated interest, was secured against assets of the club.

I don't know about Dean Holdsworth and what business knowledge he has but without being able to throw serious money at it this really didn't seem a sensible or viable idea.The majority of ex professional players who get involved in business seem to get their fingers burnt.

It seems (alleged) that he was funding the purchase through the assets of the club without actually owning them! Not at all sure if that is correct but that is the rumour pinging around Bolton today. :?

That sounds almost like fraud to me!

This is a disgrace that Bolton have been allowed to take the mick like this, and get themselves into so much debt.
What are the Efl doing here, they must take action now and hit Bolton with a deduction of 15 points.

The chairman Ken Anderson has issued four notes from the Chairman in the last six weeks.

The latest is reassuring saying we (inner Circle) have acquired BluMarble shares, the loan and interest wasn't as big as social media suggested blah blah. ( £11000 a week was one suggestion.)

They need more supporters so will be offering deals and hope University of Bolton students will come too.

An earlier one pointed out the liquidation was against Dean Holdsworths company not the club.

Neither Bolton Wanderers Football Club, Inner Circle Investments or myself attended the court hearing as the winding-up hearing related to Sports Shield and not the Club.

The Club does not have a loan from BluMarble - Sportshield does and it is currently in default.

The shareholdings in Bolton Wanderers Football Club stand at 57.5% in favour of Inner Circle Investments and 37.5% in favour of Sports Shield .

Inner Circle Investments recently acquired circa 30% of Sports Shield with a view to assisting in resolving their current issues with BluMarble.

As it currently stands, Blu Marble do not own any shares in the club and it is Sport Shield I am negotiating with on the shares.

Inner Circle Investments have made an offer to BluMarble to repay the Sports Shield loan. This offer is currently being considered and is one of the reasons why the hearing was adjourned.
