Good programme last night to celebrate his birthday goes back to his mothers Milburn ties and how he got into the Manchester team. He was radically changed by Munich going from a brash joker to a quiet introvert,
The World Cup and European Cup wins featured strongly as did his loyalty to the club to this day.
Worth a watch if you like to see some cracking goals and tributes from lots of players old and young.

A truly great player indeed. Saw him on quite a few occasions at the Turf and Old Trafford. He could strike a ball like thunder. Charlton,Law, Best. That was some trio.
Missed it and will catch up on iPlayer, seems such a long time ago now that I and others watched him on the Turf.
He always seemed withdrawn unlike his brother Jack who I could listen to all day.
Without a doubt one of England's finest footballers.
I had the privilege of flying up to Manchester sat next to him on the BA Shuttle from Heathrow some years ago, he said Brian O'Neill was the hardest player he had ever played against and I kid you not!
He also rated John Connelly as one of the best players he had ever played with and I know he also attended John's funeral.

I read that he and his brother were given a booking against Argentina in the World Cup, but not many people knew and the referee later rescinded them. This was his only booking ...if he got it and the confusion led to the introduction of red and yellow cards to make clear to all who was booked at the time of the offence.
