OC --you have it spot on.
So much is made of possession stats, however, I have always said that possession figures are very misleading because some teams make so many square or backward passes just to retain possession but they aren't actually doing anything to hurt the opposition.
Sorry to spoil it so early, but yes I find stats interesting but the final result is the only one to count. Lots of clubs go sideways backwards or triangles trying to hypnotise the opposition. We just need two Westwood free kicks and job done. Well done Kevin Long for getting the ball back to Cork from the far post. I think Chris Wood was nudging Mariappa off line for the first, not sure who gets the assist for that one?
We used to win the who can run furthest stat regularly but we don’t seem to do that now.
Some new ones
Mee has 3rd most blocks Tarks 5th and 2nd most headed clearances Tarks 8th
Nick has 10 clean sheets the highest English player and conceded 24 Butland 56 Pickford 53
Pope was bloody awesome yesterday.
It looks a long way back for Tom now...
OC --not spoiling it at all. It was just something which I had noticed and which I often check.
I was pleased as punch yesterday when I saw that we had come back from 0-1 down to win again ---after much was made of that statistic before we beat Everton.
