Recent research has revealed that Derby County fans will have to travel a total of 4,456 miles getting to and from away games in the EFL next season. Mega trips to Fulham and Cardiff (promoted) and Sunderland (relegated) have gone, but the trip to Swansea takes some of the shine off that.
But in overall terms, Derby have it easy - Nottingham Forest fans have to travel a traumatic 0 miles to attend their full quota of home games
Lies, damned lies and....... these stats! Thre is an assumption that all Rams fans live in Derby pretty damned close to Pride Park. Many don't. A return trip for me for just one home game is around 850 Km (530 miles).
Silly season stuff dreamt up to fill column inches IMO.
In Dutch they call the slow news summer silly season "komkommer tijd" aka Cucumber time.
Local games for me will be Wigan, Blackburn and Bolton followed by any other grounds near airports Isle of Man planes go in to.
East Mids is not one which makes Bentford, QPR, Birmingham, Villa and WBA all closer to me in terms of relative travel time.
Hence more likely to see Manx pop up at away games.
