It's the latest fad amongst the bright young things in the world of football coaching. The nearest English translation would be "counter pressing".
All it consists of is when you have lost the ball a pack of your players tackle the opposition players to get the ball back quickly. If you don't achieve that in five seconds you retreat back to your defensive positions. It involves mooar running abart fo the front men and midfield so a few of aar lot are going to struggle fitness wise in their present state of fatness.

What that suggests is that the top clubs, at least, are getting better at countering the counter, that the transition from attack to defence has become as significant as the transition from defence to attack, and part of the reason for that is gegenpressing. No one, perhaps, has done more to popularise the style than Klopp.

Sounds like a job for The Green Godess the tv fitness expert from a few years ago.Its a pity that Norman Rimmington has gone he would have got them fit.Quite a few years ago training was fitness only (No ball training) they said that training without the ball would make the players hungry for it on match days.That was even before my time.

That's why I hated net sessions when I played cricket. Two rubbish nets on a tuesday and a thursday as a batsman would ruin my confidence for a saturday. I used to go to one session and face a few balls. Then play my way in on a saturday. I faced a few overs to get up to speed by that time I'd taken the shine off the ball for my team mates. Hence my top score being only 21. You don't learn much in the nets though. Never heard the death rattle much though. I was mostly caught at point or in the slips or ran out.
