DISCIPLINARY HEARING - ALLOA ATHLETIC & MOTHERWELL FC
SPFL STATEMENT - DECISION OF THE SUB-COMMITTEE...
At a disciplinary hearing on Tuesday (17th September) a sub-committee of the SPFL Board charged Alloa Athletic and Motherwell with playing ineligible players in Reserve League and Reserve League 2 matches respectively:
Saturday, 19 August 2019 – Ross County 3-3 Motherwell, Reserve League
Saturday, 19 August 2019 – Alloa Athletic 2-3 Ayr United, Reserve League 2
Both Alloa Athletic and Motherwell admitted breaching SPFL Rules and were sanctioned as follows:
Both clubs reprimanded and warned as to future conduct
Alloa Athletic were fined £600 with £400 part suspended
Motherwell were fined £500 with £300 part suspended
The original match results were also annulled, and the outcome of the matches recorded as follows:
Alloa Athletic 0-3 Ayr United
Ross County 3-0 Motherwell
Sounds like some party with a axe to grind grassed on them. That doesn't make the oversight right though.
Not too sure why we were 'less penalised' financially than a club that hasn't got 2 bob to rub together?
Anyhow, breaching the rules is yet another reason why we shout 'ROBBO OUT'! >;)
I can only think it was Craig Tanner or Ross MacIver, most likely the latter. In that game we played Ross County, of all teams. In that game we came back from 3-0 to claim a draw.
I've no idea where Alloa went wrong but looking at our team that day there were no obvious trialists involved...only potential query on the face of it could have been Tanner and whether his short-term bridging contract was properly registered etc.
