16th Nov 1966 at a jam packed Tannadice, goals from Ian Mitchell and Billy Hainey followed up a remarkable first leg result in the Nou Camp as United once again humbled the Catalan giants. What made this result all the more remarkable was that this occurred some five years before Jim McLean took over and indeed some thir**** years before 1979 when the history of Dundee United commenced, according to your average Funster.

Iain Mitchell was my favourite player at the time. In park kickabouts I was him! Correct me if I'm wrong but think he died young as did one one of the great Scandinavians, Finn I think.

Just checked. Ian Mitchell died in 1996 aged 50 after a long illness. Finn Seeman died in Norway 1985 in a car crash, aged only 40Quote:
