I am all in favour of free speech and Mesut has every right to call out persecution where he sees it but he must be incredibly naive if he did not foresee that the Chinese authorities would link his comments to his privileged position as a Premier League footballer. I also wonder if Mesut has pondered the fate of the 1.5 million Armenian Christians who died at the hands of the Ottoman Turks during World War 1.
Footballers should stick to what they do best by playing football and not posting /making comments online about other countries political policies..If he feels so strongly about it he should give the game up and take up the cause.. I can remember an American footballer doing this a few years ago and the Chinese really took the huff about it and America lost billions in revenue..

They believe their own hype, taking to Twitter/Facebook and such believing its the best thing since sliced bread commenting on their game and sometimes speaking out like he's a main mouthpiece to the world about broader things without thinking of what reaction they could receive, and do they care, No because they are earning Millions and inside their precious unnatural bubble.
Ozil is a devout Muslim, he was speaking out about the abhorrent treatment Muslims are experiencing in that corner of the world.
At least he has got folks talking about it!
Nobody seems too concerned about the treatment that Christians are experiencing in China, perhaps they are concerned that China will pull the plug on the PL which, at the moment, is played in what can still be considered a Christian country. Money rules --as usual.Quote:
