Forward in
Carlisle United have today taken their tally of summer signings to nine with the capture of former Colchester and Exeter man Brennan Dickenson.
The left-sided attacker has signed a two-year deal with the Cumbrians and joins the squad ahead of Saturday’s pre-season friendly at Workington.
Dickenson, 27, was available having been released by losing play-off finalists Exeter. He was an unused sub in their Wembley defeat to Northampton, having made 26 appearances and scored three goals for the Grecians last season.
Dickenson had joined Exeter in January from MK Dons, for whom he had a half-season, 13-game spell.
Previously he had a productive three-year stint with Colchester, for whom he made 93 appearances and scored 15 goals.
Dorset-born Dickenson started at Southampton before joining Conference South outfit Dorchester. where his form earned him a move to Brighton in 2012.
After loans at Chesterfield, Wimbledon and Northampton, he joined Gillingham, making 78 appearances over two campaigns before his move to Colchester.
He was a popular figure among Colchester fans and in his first 12-goal season in Es*** he earned player of the year and players’-player of the year awards.
A knee injury affected his subsequent campaign but he went on to regain a regular place in their side.
