Have defended Leeds fans just 'holding' 'em & waving 'em several times too and have seen Leeds fans given Banning Orders from all football stadiums for 'smuggling them into grounds' which is an offence nowadays.
Last trip to Anfield in the Cup we were warned about our smoke bombs thrown onto pitch and pyrotechnics (fireworks) thrown into home stand at Ipswich a season or to back which got the throwers a Banning Order.
Difficult as when used well it looks great but when they're abused they're dangerous.
Not surprised as the rules are stringent ................ harsh IMO 'tho.
