Chairman says transfer policy for promotion first
Chairman Christoffer Reedtz insists Notts County’s transfer strategy is to put promotion above profit and says they aren’t just signing players to sell them on.
The Magpies have already struck gold in winger Callum Roberts and striker Kyle Wootton who were key performers last season as Notts look to develop stars of the future.
There are high hopes that Portuguese attacker Ruben Rodrigues and Belgian forward Elisha Sam can make a similar impact after arriving from Europe this summer.
Former Newcastle winger Roberts and Wootton, who finished top scorer last season with 18 goals, are already attracting admiring glances from other clubs after shining in the National League last season.
But while their quality is bound to attract attention, Reedtz says that the club’s transfer policy is centred on what players can do on the pitch rather than their potential worth.

“We are not particularly looking at bringing in players to sell them on,” he said.
“We are primarily looking at players who can help us strengthen the team and get us closer to promotion.
“That is the main priority.
“Of course, it may be that some of these players may have the potential to be sold to other clubs.
“But we are looking at players who represent good value in the market.”
