Cue apology from commentator “ apologies to those that might have heard some inappropriate language”

It’s a tough game, players work hard, they swear regularly in real life, as do the manager and his helpers.

That’s the game warts and all.

It’s a game with artificial crowd noise and pitch noise picked up by Sky’s own strategically placed microphones.

With microphones nigh on up the players arses just what do Sky expect?

Glad he didn't say up the Ring, commentator would have made a arse out of it. >:)

They'll soon start using tape delay to overcome that. I was watching the live NFL game here the other night and was wondering why the field audio was going silent around every touchdown score or on field ruckus so put it on the radio to realise the TV coverage was 15-30s behind reality.

It's also been a big problem in golf this year with countless apologies being offered by the networks when the mic picks up the odd 'F%ck It" or "Sh!t" comment. Nick Faldo's commentary is always the best as he just says 'That's a technical term" .

This isn’t made up

I was in one if the forges in our company group. One of the heat treatment furnaces was down. I asked the maintenance engineer what was wrong, the reply was “ the f@cking f@ckers f@cked”

Noun, adjective and verb all in one short reply

Grist, like you say they use 'artificial crowd noise' but still insist on placing microphones in close proximity to dugouts, what do they expect to pick up?

'Oh what a gorgeous pass from our number 9'

'Spiffing..totally spiffing'

'Oh golly gee we've scored a goal'

I'm surprised they use them, when it's a normal full stadium you can't even hear verbals coming from a dugout!

Why not shove their mics where the sun don’t shine, they only use them probably to try and earwig to make a story

Yes it's a fair point you make.

It's been happening for decades so what do they expect

The apology is just following standard Ofcom rules on 'offensive language', Sky could get fined if they don't.
