Burnley v Manchester City Match Preview

After a mind numbingly awful transfer window and you think it just can’t get any worse, it gets worse. Next up for the Clarets at the Turf are Pep’s City slickers. Here are just some facts about the Citizens. 1) They lead the table having conceded a mere 13 goals with Stones & Dias outstanding in central defence. 2) They are bidding to become the first PL side since Arsenal in 2002 to win 13 successive games. 3) City have won their last 7 meetings in all competitions against Burnley by an aggregate score of 28-1. For Burnley Barnes and Wood are doubtful along with Charlie Taylor and Josh Brownhill. IMO Brownhill was missed at Stamford Bridge where Chelsea simply overran the Clarets in midfield on their way to an entirely untroubled 2-0 win. For City KDB will be absent but Burnley nemesis Riyad Mahrez is likely to start and will probably finish at least once at the end of a sweeping move. The only glimmer of hope is that last time out City struggled to beat bottom club Sheffield United with an early goal from Gabriel Jesus giving them a narrow 1-0 win. Hope springs eternal as they say but it is the hope that kills you. Signing off as always COYC!

Well the club management are not concerned in the slightest are they. Most people on here can't even be bothered to comment so disillusioned are they. Stephens remains the sole activity for 2 transfer windows for a club with little creativity and no pace. Not even a token gesture kid from a top club signed on loan or anything. I do not understand this club at all. If we get relegated, then what? There is no money lower down and we appear to have no ambition to play in the top league judging by our efforts.

If Dyche shares our gloom and disbelief this morning, Burnley Football Club is going into freefall and fast. :blue:

None of us expected anything from L'pool, Villa, Chelski or City. We met pool on a bad day and got points off Villa after they stopped bombarding us from their wings - can't really understand why they stopped with that i 2.nd half, because Lowton/Brady couldn't cope with Cash and Pieters/McNeill couldn't catch up with Grealish in 1.st half. We robbed Villa for three points, great job by the way :)

The City-game will be similar to Chelsea, if not worse. We're porobably going to sit back, defend with ten men and hope that the match won't end with a cricket-result. We can forget about scoring against them as they only conceded 13 and scored 3x as much this season. With our incredible goalscorers that bag'em for fun, we can anticipate the outcome.

This game is just a formality of 90 minutes so City get three points.

Spot on doggert. If we were to beat City it would be a bigger shock than our away win at Anfield.

Be careful of rash promises BT. When Burnley were due to play Chelsea away in the League Cup in 2008 I vowed to go on a pilgrimage if we won. Shortly thereafter I found myself on the way to Canterbury. Having not learned my lesson I then foolishly said there would be another bigger pilgrimage if we were to beat Sheffield United in the Play Off Final and secure promotion to the Premier League. Well Mrs Outwood and me and a Clarets mad granddaughter had a great time in Rome. Better than any shop window I can tell you!

It will be an exhibition match.Target practice for citeh.

Anything less than 0-5 will be a bonus.
