We did brilliantly until early January with a squad of parsimoniously paid players. But the financial reality was certain to eventually assert itself. We do not have the necessary capability to cope with overnight freezing pitch temperatures. We do not have a sufficiently large indoor training facility for a full squad to use and play training matches. In a sense the season started 5 matches ago and we have had no pre-season training. But also the opposition has had plenty of time to work on counter-acting our main playing method.
What matters most is ultimately related to money. The sort of person who argues against that will no doubt point to the likes of Accrington Stanley etc. This is the sort of silly argument that is put forward by fantasists who will point to an exception rather than acknowledge that which is true in almost all cases.
