I hate myself

Just spent £39.00 for three adults (including a 70+ mam), er indoors and grandson for the Burnley game - I hate myself for propping up this disgusting regime but when grandson was virtually doing somersaults and texting all his mates about having a ticket it made it all worthwhile. I’ve had fair few beers today with watching the Durham cricket final where they got beat but now feel totally conflicted about supporting my team, yet feeding that absolute cúnt and at the same time introducing the laddie to this pointlessness - how the fúck did it ever get to this???

I don't need to preach to you about what is right or wrong in supporting the club and there's no black and white (pardon the pun) rule that covers every situation.

In terms of fatso, he's got us over a barrel because there are always going to be situations like this. Life is about balance and, judging by your Grandson's reaction, you've got the balance right. It'll take more than a few folk not going to a cup game to force Ashley's hand so go and enjoy.

Good call, the young un will remember it for ever and one day the fat kant will be gone

Very diplomatic but very correct Zip and as Coastferret points out, the young lad's memories, not just of the game itself, but everything building up to it and everything afterwards will be a thing to savour for the rest of his life.

It is 75 years since I was taken to my first game, which was only a friendly against Boro before the league football recommenced following the war, but I can still recall most of the events as if it was just last week. Like my older cousin and myself running up the lanes thinking we would be late and miss it and my Uncle behind us shouting "Slow down lads, they never start until I get into my place."

That place all his life until his last game just before he passed away was at the Gallowgate End on the steps, about a couple of yards past the left post and just above eye level with the crossbar.

That was a religion of memories that should not be spoiled for the little lad just because presently we suffer from the fat, useless, usurper in charge.

Cheers fellas, he’s only been a handful of times but keeps asking when we are going next! I’ll blank out the associated misery for a few hours on Wednesday and make sure he has a good evening out. Got in the East Stand so hopefully will be able to watch the warm up from fairly close up if it’s where it was last time we were there - near the Gallowgate corner. Who knows, I might even end up enjoying the moment then back to being sick as a chip until something gives off the pitch.

We took my 7 year old grandson to the friendly match against Norwich.
His first match ever.
He loved every minute of it - jumping up and down like a loony when we scored, clapping cheering, hi-5ing the young lad sitting behind when we scored the 3rd.

We can see he will be a proper hooligan in his later ****age years!

But because he loved it so much we bought Burnley tickets too Abd he is going again.
He is so excited!
