Mansfield match day

A decent day for the match. I wouldn't play Dickenson with Armer coming in. Midfield Mellish, Reilly and Gibson. Patrick and Shoo Silva up front

Some optimism with the recognition they need a win. On balance, I think they will get three points.

I didn't see any news over the weekend regarding injuries (any new injuries or anyone returning from injury/illness).

I suspect it will be fairly similar to last match, although Simmo seems to like experience so I wouldn't be surprised if he gave Alessandra a game in place of Omotoye.

Riley must be close to getting another start as well.

Strange game today.

We really struggled to compete in the first half. Second half has to be up there with performance of the season.

Marks at half time would have been significantly different from the below, but let's forgive and forget.

Howard - 9. Couldn't criticise him for anything today.
Riley - 8.5. Improved as the game progressed. Could have been goal of the season with that run in the second half.
Simeu - 8. A bit like Riley. Stronger as the game progressed. Unlucky with header that hit the post.
Feeney - 9. Hard to believe how young he is (23). Classy captain's performance. Also unlucky with header that hit the post.
Mellish - 7.5. Seemed a bit lost in the first half and made some embarrassing errors. However recovered strongly as the game progressed moving forward like Beckenbauer at times.
Armer - 8. Solid performance.
Devine - 8. Neat and tidy performance. Played it simple but effective. A genuine midfielder.
Dickenson - 8. Much more like it today. Good game. If he could improve his consistency he would be a real asset.
Gibson - 8. Always looks dangerous. Loses possession occasionally but at least he tries things.
Allessandra - 8. Excellent link between midfield and Patrick.
Patrick - 8. Always looks dangerous and frightens the life out of defences. What an improvement from his last stay.

I thought the first half was appalling but Mansfield unable to take advantage. Second half we got our rewards and well done to all. I agree with HB scores based on last 45 - but we could have scored more from all the breakaways. Mansfield did not offer a lot.
