The Abbey is for sale, for rich football investors.
Paul Barry is buying the Abbey Stadium, he hasnt bought it yet. This means that Grosvenor the property company who own it, want to sell.
If you want prime estate, a mile and a bit from Cambridge City centre, then its yours.
Barry will only bid the bare bones, and offer above will be accepted, after all Grosvenor are not a charity. You will own the ground, but not the club.
United will need a new rental agreement with new owners of the ground. You will of course, want to own the club. Set the rent at a ruinous price, and Barry will have to move to Peterboro or Luton. Im sure something similar happened at Coventry.
Or sell his shares. Pretty smart eh. You will have a football club, oddly in div1, but set to go higher when the city doubles or triples in size. Success guaranteed, with a goal of at least the Championship. Established youth system (failed), and a ground in serious need of modernisation.
Whats not to like? And a beautiful city.
As for business, and a portent of the future under the current owners, Greg Taylor has a new contract. Well done chuck. Id like to know what will happen after the staff wheel you to the touchline in your bath chair to play.
Walking sticks i expect.
Lets hope you never get picked. Liam o neill could walk onto a pitch ok, though. And be carried off ten minutes later, injured.
My god....its going to be baaaaaaad.
