Non payment of energy bills?

How many of us have got the balls to stop paying, cancel our direct debits and tell them to f u c k off?

I can afford to pay but I’m so p I s s e d by the whole situation and the government’s ineptitude alongside the energy companies greed that I’m considering this.

They can’t take us all to court, they can’t imprison all of us FFS!

I’m at a stage where it makes no odds to me if I get a CCJ against my credit rating or I get a criminal record for non payment.

Maybe all of us that can afford to pay need to withhold payment to help support those that are in dire circumstances?

Thoughts?

They tried privatising the water over here a few years ago.
Failed because people believed they shouldn't be paying for water and demonstrated en mass.

People have the power to squash government policy or lack of but never mobilize because of lack of organisation, unless they feel strongly enough, like poll tax demos of years ago.
This crisis is very different as not paying, may be very many millions of people's only options.
People need to feel United in the common cause.

Republics don't stand to be p issed on. The French wouldn't stand for it. Anyone who has the balls to get rid of their Royal Family won't be put on.
Over here people still act like peasants and believe a privileged, wealthy, family of gawks are super human. They say things like isn't the cost of living high, but it's nice to see another Royal baby to cheer us up.
You have no chance of a revolution in this country, the only time people get really angry is when Corrie and Emmerdale are taken off for football.
The people of this country deserve everything they get.

In exactly the same situation and a credit rating means nothing to me now. The only issue is enforcement of a pre paid meter. The c unts have got everyone by the balls

Best way is mass protests and far more strikes to hit home! Annoyed me that Truss or Sunak are avoiding the issue!! At least Labour are demanding a cap freeze and they are right!!

Estimated even those on 45K a year will need government help!! Meanwhile energy companies are being allowed to earn eight times the profits of the previous year. Crazy!!!

I suspect more misery to come by Christmas when a potential food crisis appears. Due to the drought throughout Europe many crops cannot be harvested. Then there is the Governments who are determined to crash farmers livelihoods by banning or issuing directives to cut down the use of fertilisers to meet green idiocy targets. The UK Government is currently offering huge lump sums to farmers to consider selling up which is what a fair few are now doing.

I noticed a UK factory that makes CO2 as closed down which was integral to the UKs supply chains especially for its use in livestock slaughter. Has anybody tasted bugs or crickets yet?

As an aside will Christmas look anything like. With the energy crisis will councils light up the Christmas trees up and down the towns and cities?

Anyway, why do we have to reduce our living standards to the 1940's Blitz levels in the 21st Century so that the energy companies can bleed us dry for their obscene profits? We now need a strong leader to sort it as civil unrest may take root.

I just don't understand why any political party would not hammer these energy companies who are making obscene profits. Surely they would get the support of the majority of the country. It's OK Starmer saying what he would do, and he would be correct, but would he do it? It appears to me to be the obvious solution but am I being too simplistic?

I am lucky enough to be debt free, retired with a small pension pot and State Pension. My plan is to write/email my supplier stating that I can't afford the new costs of energy. I will offer them a 10% rise in my current payments (inflation), plus anything the Government gives me to offset the rise. This will of course start a period of negotiation, which I will extend to the limit, and then when we disagree I will go to the Ombudsman and start the process again. In the meantime, there will be a ratcheting up of the amount that is owed, and I am prepared to accept that I may be paying over an extended period, eventually, but I live in the sure knowledge that these prices will come down at some point, and that they are not sustainable. I intend to take the initiative.

The people of the world deserves what's coming.....It's a fcuking mess now with nobody in charge.
If the Earth were the Titanic (analogy) then its 02:18am on the morning of the 15th of April 1912.
And most people are still clinging to money and systems that they only know.
Of course clinging to gold in the sea is not a great survival strategy.....but each to their own.....

I didn’t realise the punishment was a pre payment meter, that’s a fate worse than Hell!

I suppose we could form buying groups and run our leccy off a solar powered generator?
