Who would you rather give £1,200 to

A family member, a charity or give this every week to a care home.
After spending most of our parents savings on care home fees, I told my mate sort your parents savings out.
Today his mom has got to go in a care home after breaking her and has dementia.
She has £110k in savings, this less than 2 years fees.
Me and my twin looked after Mom for 5 years 24hrs a day, after Dad had previously had his last 9months in a home we should have leant the lesson.
So if you are lucky enough to have some money, treat your children or in our case nieces and nephews.
Enjoy helping them.
Mom and Dad offered to pay my mortgage,I told them enjoy your money because I was on good money .
Don't be too proud to except, nobody wants the parents to go into a home but life can change in a blink

At the point they go into care it’s too late to do anything with their savings or house.

All this stuff needs to be sorted well in advance otherwise the council will grab it.

I have the same concerns over my 84 year old mum who is still very fit, thankfully.

Her estate is worth around £450k.

She’s like most elderly people though, the thought of handing everything over is scary, it can lead them to be very vulnerable, especially if a child is a car crash in the way my younger brother has always been.

Her reasoning is that she wants to go into a “nice” home if ever that day comes.....her exact words to me in her broad Yorkshire accent.....” I’m not letting the council stick me in a home stinking of p I s s!”

🤣🤣🤣

Mum is quite the battle axe, no flies on her whatsoever!

Hi Mick, our Dad went into top Buppa home,Mom went into one in Wednesbury the actual care staff in Moms were a cut above the the Buppa home. The food in both were on par.
