I think if TS stated that we would always be very competitive in League 1 but to be so in the Champ is a step too far without jeopardising the financial stability of the club, most fans would take that. Intelligent people know how bad things can get for football clubs that throw caution to the wind. It's the....'we've learn't from our mistakes' and 'why should we not dream of the Premier League' that gets people!
Same here yak, don't know what is going on
Would like to hear from Tony..
I'd like to hear from TS too but he always goes missing when things get difficult.
Like Yak I'm becoming disillusioned with this every time we get into the Championship but then fail dismally to consolidate and build.
What ever happened to "incremental steps?"
It’s all about playing safe.
We have a chairman who plays safe and he had a manager that was similarly minded.
Like jumping off the top board of the old Rotherham baths, looks easy from ground level, fairly easy to climb the steps, but once you get up there the prospect looks less appealing.
Doomed I tell you captain Mainwering
I think Stewart genuinely believes what he says, as a successful business leader, but not really an experienced footy man. Wishful thinking from him. A dream.
Always taken it with a pinch of salt myself. Never held it against him, good to have dreams. But footy is a very different ball game to most business. In fairness to him though, he recognised leadership talent in Warne and that brought many great years. Personally don't care what he says his ambitions for the club are, he can dream big all he wants, as long as he keeps an eye on the balance sheet and keeps us from begging buckets again.
