Not bad. I wonder if Southgate will have noticed ?
I have mentioned my mate Tommy the Toon on here before, he says "Our Nick" is almost unbeatable, I said, "I know".
£10 million. What on earth were we thinking?:rolleyes:
I did say this at the time, whoever at Turf Moor sanctioned the deal at that price should be dunked in the Leeds-Liverpool. An appalling bit of business, and that's not said with hindsight, many heads were shaking in disbelief at the time, not just mine.
I will reiterate what I said at the time mon ami, a "Fire Sale" notice was put up outside the reception on Harry Potts Way, Nick was the first to go. After that the pressure eased and sensible transactions ensued.
Pace somehow managed to make up for it by snagging £25 million for Wood off Howe.
All's well that ends well. ;D
We certainly did good on Wood and McNeill, but it can't alter the fact we blew serious money on the Pope deal.
Ramsdale £24 million
Kepa £72 million (5 years ago)
Pickford £25 million (6 years ago)
Lloris £11 million (11 years ago)
Danny Ward £12.5 million (5 years ago)
Can't help thinking that there may have been some link between them overpaying for Wood and getting Pope on the cheap.
"Can't help thinking that there may have been some link between them overpaying for Wood and getting Pope on the cheap."
It's hard to believe there was any synergy between the two deals, but it's equally unfathomable to think otherwise.

According to Opta stats going back to August 2012, this makes him the first goalkeeper with a Premier League side to achieve such a feat.
