Oops...posted too early.
This is fascinating-this ref seems very level-headed and wants the game to be about the players and not him.(granted he might be behaving differently because he's being recorded but he's still very good)
Our lot are either just shite or too keen to make it about themselves-reckon they could learn a lot from his style. Would love there to be a similar experiment here, even if we only got to hear the audio afterwards,
I think it won't ever happen because if it did - the bias would be obvious.
I think it would be a great idea and would love to see something like this.
As you said even if it was only afterwards it would make the world of difference.
I saw some clips of Clive Norling (prominent Welsh rugby referee) mic’ed up - it was great entertainment.
“Do that again boyo and you’re off, British Lion or not..”
Then there was Nigel Owens refereeing at a game at St James’ Park when Stuart Hogg took a dive in a contact: “Come back here on Saturday if you want to do that…”
I agree though, it would be entertaining and informative but they’ll never do it.

It has been tried before :D
I've seen a clip from Australia where the refs nail it...they know the rules-unlike our muppets-and the communication between them was spot on.
I agree-it's very unlikely we'll see it introduced here but mainly because it'll show how utterly sh!te our refs are.
