Bostock and Williams

Bostock was excellent yesterday and for me he would have been a 10 out of 10 but for his freaky Panenka penalty. When I indicated in the players marks on the Bore Em stiff fred, I made him No 2 as MOTM to Baldwin and many disagreed. The thing that shows Bostock's class is what he does when he hasn't got the ball as well as his cute movement behind the strike force with it.
He's an invaluable asset and one we must hang on to.
Luke Williams is our other invaluable asset who may well be tempted by juicy offers from other clubs. His lateral thinking yesterday to substitute the penalty stopper rather than the penalty taker (as 9 out of 10 bosses would have done) shows just how canny he is.
In the post match interview on BT you could sense the affection and respect Bostock felt for our Luke. JB is a well-travelled guy and to describe LW as 'the best gaffer I've worked for' (which was echoed by several other Notts players) says it all. We have uncovered a diamond and need to be patient if things don't immediately work out in the new season.

Totally agree Sid and since he got match fit he has been a good signing for us.

Williams is the key like you say there are plenty of good players around if you do your homework but not so many good managers/head coaches around.

Williams is more important to us than Langstaff next season that is maybe a big call but its what I believe.

Regarding the 'Bostock Panenka' penalty, Macca said JB had been practising that penalty all week and had taken pens like that in the past successfully, so LW and Tom Weal would have given him the green light to take it, just a shame it wasn't six inches lower. On the plus side it gave Cedwyn the chance to lay to rest the ghost of Wrexham.

Bostock was my MoM yesterday. Always available & looking for the ball especially when playing out from the back. Palmer a close 2nd

He beat the keeper to be fair, just a couple of inches too high. You look ridiculous when you miss but if you are accurate you're pretty much odds on to score.

Bostock for me was better yesterday than away at Wrexham, which was the previous best performance I'd seen him give in a Notts shirt.

The two noticeable qualities in those two performances were his excellent dead ball ability and seeming to use the ball faster and run faster.

He certainly was the adult in the room yesterday when other players were losing their heads, at least until the penalty. I think the penalty was quite a good example of what someone else aptly called his tendency to 'peacock'. If we can get the Wrexham/Chesterfield version of Bostock in 90% of games next season, he'll be very important for us.

Too much peacocking and League 2 midfields could be quite unforgiving.

Yes, head and shoulders our best player and his best individual performance.

I love the fact his Panenka was practiced all week so the coaching staff had no problem with it. If they're happy letting players express themselves to that extent we're always going to be entertained under them!

We are certainly entertained on a regular basis, no doubt about that.

Part of that is the fact that we seem to encourage our players to take risks. I generally enjoy that, although I would rein the risk taking in 5-10% personally.

Let's be honest - he was showing off, and if we had lost the shootout he would've been crucified. That would've been a great pity as there is no way a player with his experience, and power and precision from the dead ball should be missing the target at a set piece.

Definitely man of the match for me yesterday. Such a great performance.
As said above, the penalty…if we had lost on penalties then he would have been crucified and his performance would have been ripped to shreds.
We are an unforgiving lot, but this time, we can move on and accept we have a great midfielder who can run the show.
Let’s hope he becomes more consistent in L2 next season.
