Caroline- Francis Rossi live Porthcawl last night.
Francis Rossi took to the stage in the Grand Pavilion in the sedate seaside resort , in the latest leg of his “ Tunes and Chats “ tour. For Status Quo fans like myself ,it was a chance to turn the clock back, listen to some stories which spanned his long career to date ,and listen to some classics which he has been part of over the years. Songs such as Down The Dustpipe, Pictures Of Matchstick Men we’re just two of the highlights of the first half ,in between tales of his early life at home in South London. The second half was littered with later hits which we’d all come to hear, covering the albums which were so popular. There was even time for a Question and Answer session , before the audience got involved with Rocking All Over The World and Caroline. By this time the audience were well in to it, and were leading the way in the vocal stakes. I think even Rossi himself was surprised by the reaction.
As we walked back along the seafront, Mrs Mand myself agreed it was a great night , and glad we were there. As for the star of the evening, at 73 years of age he still has it, and his voice is still pretty good.
For those of you up in the Turf Moor area, he is appearing at the “Mechanics” very soon.
Get yourselves a ticket ,and come back on here afterwards ,and thank me for telling you about the show.
