Good goal and his overall game was good, although his colleagues didn't always make the right decision when he made some good runs.
One of the interesting things for me was that the Dutch weren't averse to getting the ball forward quickly, even the keeper kicking out of his hands, and Wout won quite a number of headers to knock the ball on or held the ball up well with his back to goal to bring his team mates into the game.
He did not surprise me at all.
He can run and he can smile, two attributes I didn't know he had. I think he was short changed at Man U, the other forwards seemed to ignore him, but would he want to come back to a relegation favourite side, I think he has written us off.
I don't even want to think about Wout and his goal scoring exploits, that way madness lies. :blue:
It was more our fans who wrote him off because he was ambitious and wanted to play in the World Cup Finals. This necessitated that he move to play at the top level of football somewhere in the world, rather than the second tier with us.
He had been told by his national manager that he would not be considered for selection in the squad if he was playing at the lower level.
I know what I would have done ------and he did the same. I agree with your thoughts on his time at Man U, however, there may be something in his make up that alienates him from his team mates ---who knows?
All bridges burned IMHO, all we can hope for is a good few quid back in January.
Still a bit of an enigma is Wout, no goals in his first 9 games back in Germany, 4 in his last 5 games. According to the Sun, United fans want him back now.
