It's a theory indeed. Some of the pods have banned the notion about. However, clickbait talking heads crew obviously don't understand the way things work.
The way rules are breached make a difference.
Forest got humped despite doing all they could to maximise the return on a player investment and worked with the PSG committee to balance the books. As did Everton. They were open to the committee and worked to resolve the overages asap.
Still they were punished.
So what does that mean for us going forward with the current rules in place.
It means we can't just flip the PSR committee the middle finger, spend £200-300m on a new team as we will get hammered with the full weight of punishments, relegations and all manner of other nasties.
However, what the punishments handed out to Everton and Forest have done, is set a precedent.
As long as we work with the committee to stay within the rules, the punishments have to fall within the same limits as the other clubs. Should Newcastle United receive unbalanced or greater points deductions than other clubs, we can absolutely hammer then in court which would destroy any validity the rules held.
Miggy will have to realise that if the club are selling him, he has to go. That's the nature of football and wider professional sport in general. Should he stay he'll be playing with the kids like Fraser.
If that's what he wants, that's what he'll get.
