O/T Barnsley North & South Seats General Election

These seats were once almost un-contestable for anyone other than Labour , absolute shoe in for the Labour candidates , not anymore .

Both these seats are now marginals and there is only 5% between Labour and Reform according to the opinion poll going in to Thursdays election .

I'm not going to tell anyone how they should vote I'm just letting fellow posters know the situation and emphasis that who ever they choose their vote is mightily important at this General Election which hasn't always been the case .

Does anyone on here know enough about the political parties to enable them to vote with confidence ?
I know I don’t.
As such - I shouldn’t be allowed to vote.
And I have a big interest in politics.
So if I’m not capable of voting properly then there will be millions more that also shouldn’t be allowed to vote.

When people generally don’t understand politics then democracy is a bad thing.
What people want is a good government.
A good thing about democracy is that it allows people to get rid of a poor government.

Nigel Farage and the Reform Party have some good ideas.
But I won’t be voting for them.
It’s obvious why Farage visited Barnsley and are doing well here - that’s because in Barnsley there are relatively low educational standards - people are less inclined to understand what they are voting for.

There's a difference between educational achievement and political awareness .

I've met people with good education's behind them but aren't interested in politics and I've met people who left school with nothing and can hold their own when it comes to politics .

Generally speaking politics is simply about your life and what you've experienced and since everyone has a life they have a legitimate right to vote based on that life experience .

Given up that right and leaving it to someone else wouldn't exactly work out too well going on history or country's where democracy doesn't exist .

Name me one dictatorship that's hasn't or won't end in catastrophe ? , I'll start with Hitler and leave you with Putin .

The art of deciding who to vote for is to be able to distinguish between who is telling you the least amount of lies or not revealing what their real intentions are .

In the Barnsley constituencies we have those two classic examples fighting it out .

Both lie and both aren't telling you what their real intentions are .

So now we are playing a game of whose deceit is likely to be worse rather than who has the better intentions .

At least ultimately it's still your choice .

Weve got 13 years of experience of one set of liars and no experience of the other set in their current form.

Anyone who can vote for the liars in blue after the last 13 years needs their bumps feeling.

The country needs change and so does the blue party, 5 years in opposition should give them enough time to give their heads a shake and find some morals and common decency.

Thats my point really mate, we have no idea what current labour really is and we'll only find out if they get elected.

I suspect they severely lack a depth of talent if Starmer is the best choice of leader. Theres always too much infighting within the party, left against centre left generally speaking and it needs a firmer hand to sort it out.

I would have liked to have seen Andy Burnham challenge for leadership but he shows a reluctance to rejoin the parliamentary party. He looks like the man with the minerals to sort out the factions within the party.

By the way, I dont support any particular party, I just look for honesty, intentions and common sense approaches to lifes challenges. Its anybodies guess whether Labour will deliver this.

Lift the Reform stone and all kinds of horrible stuff will crawl out.

It is important to be consistent with calling out racism. As an example Frank Hester has donated £15 mill to the Conservative party. the party's main donor this year. Hester has recently said Dianne Abbot made him want to hate all black women and she should be shot. Sunak has kept his money and has accepted a further £150K from Hester since his remarks.

Red or blue I don’t trust those two.
I’m seriously thinking in favour of testing what horrible crawls out.

I think that sometimes…….. O/T is ok.
If it’s for sport. Or loosely related to sport. ….

Or it could be very easily be used for political persuasion…… or used frequently for

“O/T”….. “Just a waste of reading” …….No real relevance to the Football Club, or related humour of the town it represents…………
