The smallest show on earth…(howoldboy)

Just watched this old black and white movie from 1957 and what an enjoyable watch this great film was,Bill Travers Virginia Mckenner,Peter Sellers and Margaret Rutherford giving great performances,there was a scene where the credits went up and everyone legged it out of the cinema before God save the Queen came on which had me laughing as I can distinctly remember doing this as a lad back in day,Ealing comedies are probably my favourite and I’ve got a couple of old b+w Peter Sellers films lined up to watch in the week,what’s your favourite era or genre of cinema howoldboy?

I'm sorry Chalky but this reply may well disappoint you.

I reckon the last time I actually went to the cinema was about 1979.

I don't have a favourite era or genre. Anything good from any era or genre does it for me.

I struggle to find a good film nowadays but occasionally I am pleasantly surprised.

Bloody hell howoldboy that’s some list,you didn’t just think of them off the top of your head did head did you? I would agree with about 60% of your films and say that they was great,20% I would disagree with and 20% I’ve never even heard of and right in the middle of the list lays Kes,stopped me in my tracks that one as I’ve never been able to watch since the 70’s and yet it started my love of birds and animals

Remiss of me not to include This is England!

Must be lots more (less popular) that I have enjoyed but forgotten the name of.

I forgot Bob Hoskins.

Mona Lisa and The Long Good Friday to be added to the list.

I’ve never liked Bob Hoskins for some reason and it’s the same with George Clooney (except in the wonderful Oh Brother where art thou) I’ve never seen a Star Wars film and don’t intend to and James Bond films bore me stupid especially the Roger Moore ones which can be confused with Austin Powers in parts,the trouble with me is that I’ve got to be hooked within 15 minutes or I switch off,I watched Oldboy last night,the original Korean version not the remake,and that’s superb even though it not in English,Ingorious B*stards is planned for tonight as I’ve only seen it once and that was a long time ago which reminds me that Django Unchained is a favourite as well,infact any Tarrentio film I will watch

Totally agree re Star Wars and James Bond.

Normally like Tarrantino but didn't like Inglourious Basterds or the subsequent The Hateful Eight.

Kill Bill 2 and Jackie Brown probably my favourites.
