New signing needed

We looked fucked today, as we did on Wednesday,

We haven't added to the first team in 18 months and it's showing. They've been magnificent in our recent run but, even with this form and the confidence it should have brought, we couldn't match Bournemouth's speed-either physically or of thought and we couldn't match their intensity. spend any money.

Even if we have to take a chunk out of our Summer spending, I think this group of players needs the injection of new ideas/skills/strengths that a new signing-or two-would bring.

This might all be moot as all the noises coming out of the club suggest that PSR has us by the balls even now and we actually aren't in a position to spend. PSR is designed to stop non-cartel clubs joining the elite by not only stopping them from buying players for the starting 11 but by preventing them from building squads to help spread the burden over the season.

It wouldn't surprise me to see clubs like ourselves, Bournemouth (albeit they coped very well with their injuries today) and Forest fall off the pace as the season takes its toll while the clubs who have been allowed to spend reap the reawrds of being allowed to build stronger squads by moving into the top spots.

the frustrating thing is, we could genuinely buy any player in the world without the "rules" being as they are.
If we had a full go at it like Chelski and Citeh did, then we would be challenging for everything.
In a way, im glad we are going about our shlt in plain view and within the rules.
Today, we were schooled by a team that were set up and delivered better than we were.
From start to finish, they were better than us, they deserved the win, they put us back down to earth.
THIS is what makes this crazy game so loveable, we will move on to next week and go again.

Aye, if anything, we have to be extra cautious because so many people want us to fail (because of jealousy, fuck all to do with human rights for the vast majority of them).

One of my mates was saying he's absolutely sure we'll win the Cup. Ffs, he's been following us as long as I have-you'd think he would have learned. XD Even if we beat Arsenal, we could still do what we've done in any final I've ever seen us play, i.e. not turn up.

Beating Arsenal away just shows what we're capable of...but losing to Bournemouth today-particularly the manner of it-show, erm, what we're capable of.

I also think a new signing would be beneficial as it would interject some difference into the squad, as said, shake it up a bit.

Agreed but what position? Right cb is needed and rw. Don?t think one signing will be enough in January,we need 3 to have any impact. Eddie is blaming fatigue for stats result and he?s right,problem is we don?t have the quality in the squad to rotate, without running the risk of dropping points,however with hindsight maybe he should have gambled with a few changes yesterday. Hindsight?s a wonderful thing, I wish I had a bucket full!

BDB gave an interview afterwards saying they couldn?t claim to be tired.

Mentally tired? Even if we bring in a few new faces, if we make Europe next season a lot of players will have to play 3 games in 7/8 days.

We had 3 games in 7 days, Sun (Bromley) / Wed (Wolves) / Sat (Bournemouth)

Previously we played Mon (Man Utd) / Spurs (Sat) / Arsenal (Tues) in 9 days.

The games with Bromley etc were all home games - no travelling involved. The Bromley game saw no first team player involved (other than Dubs) play more than 45 mins.

I?m not buying it was just fatigue, we had no idea how to handle them from the first minute? the players definitely weren?t fatigued at the start of the game? it was more tactics than anything, and the ref letting Bournemouth get away with tackles that should have been yellows, but we were f**king clueless in getting the ball, keeping the ball, and closing them down when they got the ball in transition? yesterdays was even worse than the West Ham performance.

I agree we need new faces, and better options off the bench, but I?m not buying the absolute hiding we got is down to players being tired.

I think we?ll turn it around next game, and beat Soton convincingly? but if Chelsea beat Wolves tomorrow we?re down to 6th again.

Ian...I think we've both followed Newcastle long enough to know that we're entirely capable of replicating yesterday's performance against Southampton.

I'd like to think we'll put things right in the time we've got but as this isn't about ability but about tactics and mentality, that's the bit we've got to fix.

I think everyone is dismayed at how we allowed Bournemouth to be better in every department both on and off the pitch especially when you consider how well we played against Arsenal.

We were far worse than in the Wolves game but the signs were there. I worry if everyone expects us to go to Southampton and win easily, especially if the players have that attitude. We could be in for a nasty shock.

We certainly need fresh talent to boost competition for places within the squad. Yesterday?s defeat was a setback.

Bournemouth?s early goal put us on the back foot, and although we responded well to equalise, we struggled to regain control. Our defence couldn?t handle their aggressive play and quick counterattacks, allowing them to dominate the game.

With a week?s break ahead, the team have an opportunity to regroup and get back to winning ways. However, the challenges we face in the transfer market, coupled with restrictive financial regulations, are significant obstacles. The Premier League?s framework seems designed to protect the so-called top six elite, leaving clubs like ours fighting an uphill battle to break through.

Yep-I think we can all agree that fresh faces are needed. This is a watershed season for us because if we don't get Champs League, I think 2 out of Bruno, Tonali and Isak will go.
