Player of the Season

Voting is now officially open. 15 appearances or more.

A few to choose from; Bass, Platt, Bedeau, Abbott, McGoldrick and maybe Jatta.

My gut tells me it will be a close run thing between Abbott and McGoldrick.

I agree. Very close.

For consistency over the season I would suggest only Platt, Bedeau, Abbott and McGoldrick in the running. Bass, Palmer, Jatta have all been excellent for large parts. The right side of the back 3, wingbacks and third striker positions haven?t really been grasped by anyone.

McGoldrick likely gets my vote with Abbott a close second.

I decided to vote for Matty Platt, purely for the fact that he's quietly consistent and reliable. Such a contrast from our Keystone Cops defensive days!

I don't think you should approach player of the year by factoring in the play in those positions from last season.
The only evidence is the players performance this season.

From a narrative perspective, I can't understand how the fanbase wouldn't want to choose McGoldrick. Wanting to come back to the club he supports after a stellar career. Possibly his last season playing at this level. "One of our own' and all that. That's a much more compelling narrative than new boys come in and do better than the players who preceding them.

But it doesn't have to be based on narrative, Didzy has been amazing this season. His goals, his all-round play and inspiration of teammates have kept us up there more than any other player IMO. What he does is far rarer and more difficult.

I really hope Didzy gets this, I'd imagine the other players do too.

With it being so close, with 4 obvious candidates in the running (I reckon Didzy, Abbott, Platt and Bedeau are in a higher tier than Bass & Jatta), what happens in the play-offs should matter. The Club should mention how long the voting is open for and extend to cover the play-offs if they haven't done so already.

I didn't factor in last season. I chose Platt purely on merit.

McGoldrick for me, closely followed by Bedeau and Abbott.

I picked Bedeau.
He was an obvious choice for me up until Didzy came back from injury and has been nothing short of sensational.
However, Bedeau has been an almost ever present and barely put a foot wrong.
