This is a subject raised before. Nevertheless I am a bit saddened, if that is the right word, by what I have heard this morning. I have always loved The Who but does Roger Daltrey merit a knighthood? Same with David Beckham whose footballing talents were admirable. God only knows what other awards have been given. I think the ?honour? of receiving an award has really been adversely affected.
Luke Littler??? services to darts???? How about Soulman or BaggieAl getting an OBE for services to WBAFC and Footymad?

Beckham was a half decent footballer in his day but that is about all, so does he deserve a Knighthood? My answer initially is no. But then I remember that Jimmy Saville and Lenny Henry got one so what the hell, why not.

Also, gongs for presenting the frightful Strictly Come Dancing and such like, ridiculous. I know a couple who dedicated most of their lives to caring for two severely disabled children (not their own), far more deserving than presenting TV programmes. I recently played in a band to entertain the staff and volunteers at a day care hospice, it is quite humbling to see the dedication that these people have in caring for those in need; there are obviously many such people up and down the land. I just think that the honours system seems somewhat disrespectful to such people. Time to stop these awards to celebrities.
