I bought my first pair of football boots from a shoe shop called BIRDS who was also a cobbler in NEW ST West Brom not far from the DICKENS sports shop.
Dickens was very popular back in the day, my first snooker cue was purchased from here. The building is still there but the sports shop closed down in th 80s. There were many little sports shops dotted all over the Black country but most have practically vanished. I remember one in the old ARCADIA in the West Brom High St operated by a scottish 5000m runner Ian Stewart, most thought it was an unusual venue i dont think it did much good at the time
No idea where I had boots from to play in the school team but remember when it came to Sunday morning football I purchased a couple of pairs of leather football boots from a sports shop in Dudley town centre, at the bottom of one of the arcades off from the market. I remember how expensive they were.
Very first pair of football boots I can remember having were Puma Netzer Pioneers with moulded studs back in the 70s. Black with a yellow Puma slash. Had to do a Google search to find them. Think I was about six and loved those boots despite the Dinglish colour scheme. You'll all have to excuse me as the only wolves I'd probably heard of back then lived in the wilderness, and not the one that is Wolverhampton......
