This is why i have long said there should be VAR for play off matches

You will know I was one of NA's biggest critics. But as seen yesterday by singing a player with no Head Coach in place that the style of play is down to what the owners want, possession football. A different style to what Ardley knows, hence his problem at Notts, the same as Nolan, Hardy wanting fast attacking play completely different to KN,s ethos. Again the Owner sourced players he wanted.
Not saying NA has become a Saint but was working under constraints that didn't suit him.
I'm not sure that NA was forced into anything , when he came to Notts he held the all the Trump cards as we and Hardy were desperate for his services , I'm sure he wouldn't have turned up on our doorstep if he was told how to play and who to pick ?
As for when the brothers arrived he might have been given a remit with constraints which he decided to accept as his stock was low having taken us out of the league and being outwitted by the football managing giant that was Sol ! If he was forced into a system by the Bros he should have grown some gonads and walked. However that argument doesn't seem to stick as he employed the same tactics that got us relegated that failed to get us promotion, which he then took with him to Solihull and employed them for a large portion of the season according to some of their fan reviews. Now when ,why & how he changed those views is any ones guess? one thing for sure his turn around in fortunes with them does not ever make him a good manager when he was in charge of us.
You did say you weren't a fan of the timing of the NA's sacking, and I agree with you regarding VAR. I'm referring to the 100+ NA related posts and comments you made prior to his sacking. You know the ones ;)
As for "ALL the players that people this season said were good" , as magpie_mania rightly points out our deserved player of the season winner Matty Palmer was signed during IBs time. If Palmer hadn't have won a very good shout would have been out club captain Kyle Cameron. Again another signed on IBs watch. Sooooooo XD
To give you a better illustration just look at the designated thread on who NCM posters should be player(s) of the season / Top 5. Look who appears in the top 3 on the vast majority of lists. Sorry to bring it up Davy but such an error really needed pointing out. Unless you don't think Palmer and/or Cameron have been some of our better players this term?
I was certainly not a fan of Ardley's and after a while became disillusioned with Burchinall, but what slowly became apparent was that they both were trying to play attractive and technical football rather than achieve promotion at all costs.
Whether the owners thought that instructing the manager to try to play a la Man. City was the way forward in the National League with non-league footballers or not is not in my ken. What is in my ken is that the goalie rolling the ball out to 5th division defenders, expecting them to accurately pass the ball out to equally talented midfielders who must control the ball while being bullied by hefty animals, ignored by incompetent referees, is a risky operation. It only takes one miss-placed pass between defence and midfield to put an enemy high press in a good mood and get their party started.
We saw this season how vulnerable to the high press we were. A high press just needs numbers in the opposition half pressuring a defence into a making a mistake so why didn't Notts try it instead of a slow passing game? Could it be that our manager had instructions to play a certain style?
Lol my thoughts exactly, I did wonder why you were being rather quiet since Davy's unexpected and dramatic U-Turn.
We need to get the band(duo) back together :)
Ok maybe not ... I blame Ardley for doing a very good job at Solihull he spoilt everything ;)
NA and IB both had the ability to get us out the league.
One of them is a game away from promotion to league 2 and the other will be managing in league 1 next season.
Yet this thread is all about proving which manager was worse. And that is the problem that Notts have got. We have a weight of expectation that isn’t a positive one. It’s a demanding one that is often unrealistic and constantly writing off Owners/Managers/Players at the drop of a hat. I’ve spoken to several players and ex players over the years and they do read social media and it does have an impact. You can’t underestimate that. The same people that slated NA week after week try and justify his success at Solihull by saying he couldn’t handle the pressure at Notts…..well let’s remove the pressure then!
I read the FGR message board after IB was appointed. Not one negative comment, just welcoming messages. Imagine for one second that was Notts. A non-league manager that hasn’t won promotion. His card would be marked from day one, and so would the owners.
Steve Cooper and the Forest players summed it up perfectly after promotion.
When asked what SC did to change things at Forest, he didn’t talk about tactics, style of play or formation, he talked about killing the players with kindness as everyone loves to be loved. Every player echoed that and spoke about the impact the fans had in that. If ever there was proof what unanimous support from top to bottom can have, it’s Forest’s achievement this season.
Whoever our next manager is, we will lose games of football and we will have games where we play cr@p. We’re a non league club, it’s going to happen. I just hope we do it less often than every other team.
Negativity breeds negativity.
