Not sure about the Hirst link. Maybe his confidence is up and he has matured physically and mentally and might now be able to cut it in the championship.
He didn't do much for us last time though
Then again look at when we had Swift on loan. He didn't pull up any trees but is now a championship stalwart.
Hirst had improved immeasurably last season and gave Woody a torrid time ay NYS.
He wouldn't be my first choice but I wouldn't be too disappointed if we signed him.

Burnley - Were due to sign striker Jackson Muleka, from Belgian side Standard Liege, after passing
a medical to join Burnley, there has been a snag, the player was unable to get a work permit.
The player has now joined Turkish side Besiktas instead.
Sheffield United - Lost out in a bid to sign out of contract player Tom Lawrence, after the player's
contract ran out at Derby County.
Scottish club Rangers came in with a better deal & signed the player on a three year contract, Blades
boss Paul Heckingbottom said Rangers came in with a 11th hour offer, which blew the Blades out of
the water to sign him.
