In the UK the best thing we could do to get the numbers going the right way long term would be to rejoin the single market and customs union. I see Badenoch is taking the first baby steps to acknowledge what a colossal eff up the whole Brexit thing has been. It wouldnt surprise me at all if the Tories became pro more EU integration before Labour. They will if they have any sense.

Just can't leave it behind can you, you realise that EU economies are faring worse that the UK? What would be the benefit, more cheap labour for millionaire factory owners and farmers, even more, foreign students?

If Starmer slides us back in to the EU, he will be as reviled as Thatcher.

The UK isn't the only country which is sick of 'incomers' btw, Spain has just announced the intention to impose 100% tax on none EU, property buyers.

Good point. Ironically the single best way for the Tories to make themselves electable again would be to back a reversal of Brexit. Those who didn't want it or who've realised their mistake would probably back them, even if only a 'loan vote' for one election.

To be fair, both the right and left abuse each other on here.

showing my age here, but the terms "Far" left and "Far" right are confusing to me these days.

I did study IA and Politics as elements of my first degree at U of Nottm like decades ago (and very little since!), but then the Far Left was anti-democratic and didn't believe in the vote, wanted equal rights for all, and national ownership of most/all business - as well as international co-existence on similar themes.

The Far Right was also anti-democratic, supported the Nazis, racial segregation, hegemony, and individual ownership of the means of production, as well as unfettered National sovereignty (and National expansionism!) and the right to unlimited individual wealth.

I'm probably seriously beyond my shelf life politically, but I've only read examples of Far Right on here, and nothing that deviates from what I'd call centre left. Tell me I'm wrong!
