Denly might as well open...even if he gets his usual 15-25 its a start. Can’t stick with Roy opening in Test cricket, he needs to be batting much lower down imo. He’s failed every time which means Root might as well be opening.
If Buttler fails again this innings I think he has to be rested and replaced by Curran.

Nasty blow though, right near the spot that killed that chap a couple of years ago. Not good when it defeats the helmet. Glad he's ok.

Root terrible again, wouldn't bat him higher than 5. Maybe bring Bairstow up the order. Can't see anything but a loss in this match, hope I'm wrong, but the batting is mostly terrible.

Horribly close to the blow that killed Phillip Hughes, Adi.
Smith, noticeably didn’t have the added protection to his helmet that most have acquired since Hughes was killed. Seemed to hit him on the neck rather than the base of the skull.
Brave but lucky boy.

Think we can still save this Test with a decent morning session.

Indeed. He's not strong on that short ball, ducks under which is fine, but doesn't watch the ball, looks away. His coaches / teammates need to tell him to take extra protection.

Hope you're right on the morning... Need to have them chasing 275 plus to really put any pressure on
