The Empire and Colonies are indeed on the curriculum BT at least at the level I studied. Whether the correct balance is being achieved in the teaching of this subject however is certainly moot. I would like to see some comparative teaching here. Perhaps we could look at the same time at say the 20th century Ottoman and Japanese Empires. Or how does one approach current Chinese behaviour in Tibet and Hong Kong or towards the Uighurs? Is China now an Imperial power? Then again how do we teach about Saudi Arabia and the House of Saud? Their record on human rights, their legal system and the treatment of dissent. Is the West culpable of ignoring abuses in Saudi Arabia because the Saudis are regarded as a major ally in maintaining stability in the Middle East? I remain worried BT that fuelled by social media people will jump to quick answers to what are definitely not simple questions.

The history of the world has been dotted with despotic regimes outwood. We had our turn, and sugar coating our colonial British Empire past does no-one any good.

Thankfully we have never tried mass extermination of a religious culture, nor as far as I know have we got the equivalent of the Japanese Rape of Nanking written into our history.

I am not defending the wrongs committed during the British Empire BT. They are indeed well documented. So is the role Britain played in bringing an end to the slave trade internationally through the West African squadron. I haven’t heard much about that. The latest absurdity on Robert Peel? He set up the Police Force. The Police force are racist so he shouldn’t have a statue. Also he discriminated against Catholics. As a young man indeed he was nicknamed “Orange Peel”. Delving a little deeper any researcher would find he changed his mind and acted on it. Where is it all going? Better getting working on that curriculum pdq I would say before the Romans get here.

So at last Sadiq Khan speaks up. For weeks the streets of London have been choked with mass protests, his police officers attacked and now he has issued a warning to far right groups to keep away. Anthony Joshua advocating segregation is beyond me. Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks and their ilk fought tooth and nail and in some lives lost their lives so black people could access white owned businesses, restaurants and shops. Just to be clear I will "take a knee" for no-one, and I do not think our police force should show subservience to the very people who are physically assaulting them.

I cannot abide racism and quite frankly I do not think it is a political issue. I judge a person by the strength of their character not the colour of their skin. I see little strength of character being displayed by Johnson, Patel, Truss, Gove, Raab, Buckland, Hancock, Coffey, Williamson and Shapps, et al do you?

It really is no good speculating as to what Corbyn would do, but I'm pretty sure he would make a better fist of handling this corona virus malarkey than this set of disingenuous, lying T W A T S would do. Barnard Castle anyone?

When India had become nation-less for the second time, the Muslims invaded the country. And when India had become nationless for the third time, the British incursion into India began. The British very easily conquered the nation-less India.
The Muslims no doubt conquered India, but they looked upon it as their mother country. Nobody would say that they only exploited India as foreigners; but the case of the British was different. They came to India not to settle but to earn money.

To achieve their agenda, the British rulers hosted three "Round Table Conferences" in London whereby leaders of India's various communities rallied to get their share. This was actually the start of the communal award wherein all stakeholders / communities were invited to London to discuss the allocation of political power in India. So it was, that in 1932, the Britishers extended limited autonomy to India with the British leaders still controlling the Central Government and having the final say. So now all the communities - Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Dalits, businessmen, kings - had a vote and political seats were granted on a communal basis. This happened gradually over the course of time. This inevitably led to heated competition among these communities in order to gain power.

MK Gandhi committed a major blunder by supporting the partition of India and accepting the communal award in 1932. To break India into pieces, the colonial powers (i.e. the Britishers) introduced the communal award. This meant that political seats were allocated based on religion and social class etc: Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Dalits, businessmen, kings, etc. Each community was given a limited share of the power. The agenda of the colonial powers was to increase tension and instigate infighting amongst all Indians. Their plan was to incite them to attack each other and break India into countless pieces on a communal basis.

As is well documented, in the 19th century, there was harmony between Hindus and Muslims. For centuries they had lived together in India - side by side. For more about this, reference Prout philosophy's book "To The Patriots". But after their united revolt against the British rulers in the 19th century, those British rulers planned to break the unity between the Hindus and Muslims by increasing communal tension. In a very deliberate and devious manner, the Britishers started granting favours in the form of higher posts, political power and other perks to one community or the other. The aim was to create tension between Hindus and Muslims - as well as with other communities within India.

I thought Gandhi opposed partition but Jinnah demanded a separate Muslim state which became Pakistan.
