To talk in respect of risk to individuals is to miss the point. We do know that Omicron is far more transmissible than earlier strains. That means that a lot of people are going to get it over a short period of time. Yes, I dispute the 'just a cold' thing anyway - as mentioned we had a quarter of staff down with it this week and whilst it is heartening that the symptoms are milder than previous strains, most were in bed for at least a couple of days and reported it more like a very unpleasent virus/mild flu. As well as the threat to the NHS we also have to bear in mind the impact on business and services generally in being able to function. It's all well to look for encouraging signs in how the virus is developing, and hope that these are what happens, but the threat to normal life is very much there, and it seems a no brainer to me to take all precautions we possibly can.

Anyone know a Cambridge pub with a beer garden??

...i wonder if there's any people thinking that a positive test now would be ok, after all no one as to prove it, if it means no work til the New Year..........
...bit like the old "self certification" of years ago. Especially the staff who get paid when they're off "ill".......................

Odd you should say that, only today I was in Sheffield with Mrs G and she saw one of the staff she works with. Said woman was supposedly off with covid

Our lass was moved into the Sample room( Sewing factory) from the production line in the early 90's. She also moved on to "staff", out of the 12 ladies working in there it took nearly 18 months to see all 12 together at work. Bad back, depression and stress were the favourites........needless to say all the work ended up "off shore" and closed down soon after.
She now runs production and technical assistance to factories in the Far East for a Sheffield based company(Barbot hall originally).

Been reported, that there has been a big uptake in people having a first jab,
& a second jab, due to the infection rate of the omicron.
Seems some people have seen sense, & decided to have the jabs.

Ive booked mine for next week/the 3rd, but its at the Cas civic centre for some weird reason. :O

If you walk down the river Cam there are some decent size pubs with plenty of outside seating, the town centre pubs dont seem to have any outside space.

If you go to the railways station theres two excellent pubs with plenty of outside seasting

Why would they do that when it's milder and they're less likely to end up in hospital?
