Crimea, which is at least two hundred kilometers behind the front lines has come under attack.
The Crimean attack would mark a dramatic escalation and reach by Ukraine, if it was a ballistic missile.
Russia says it wasn't a missile strike but a detonation of munitions.....go figure.

More information is now emerging after reports came through this morning that the daughter of a close aide to Vladimir Putin had died in a car explosion on the outskirts of Moscow.
Darya Dugina, who was the daughter of prominent ultra-nationalist Russian ideologue Alexander Dugin, was killed after a suspected explosive device detonated on the Toyota Land Cruiser she was travelling in, investigators from the Moscow region said in a statement.
Also read that Russian media outlets are reporting more on the war after thousands of Russians fled Crimea after explosions this last few days.
You reap what you sow and Ukraine seem to be increasingly taking the war to Russia by any means necessary at the moment whether that be drone attacks or terrorist style assassination attempts on individuals with IEDs. Given the atrocities carried out by Russian forces you can hardly blame them. The big question -aside from how such tactics will go down with Western allies-is whether this will lead to more questioning of Putin's "special operation" within Russia itself or an increase and hardening of support for him.
Was mentioned to me recently by a Polish friend of mine just back from Krakow, who says there is a lot more noise, chatter on the internet from within Russia proper about this expanding war.
Apparently the fleeing Russians from Crimea this week have been posting videos of them escaping and the massive traffic jams leaving on the recently completed bridge from Russia to Crimea.
I also read that the mothers are getting restless with the lack of news about their sons who have died in Ukraine. They became fearless outspoken critics of the regime when they were in Afghanistan all those years ago.
Russia will implode.
I'd be interested to know who is behind this. Two possibilities immediately spring to mind. Number one is Ukraine. Number two is Putin, keeping a potential rival in check while boosting anti Ukrainian sentiment. I wouldn't put possibility number two past him.Quote:

Probably perpetrated by anti Putin factions within Russia. Putin has always said that he protects the ‘Motherland’, if people keep getting blown up by bombs in Russian cities then it could well sow the seeds of unrest. The assassinated woman was a journalist who supported Putin and his filthy war; karma. Her old man was probably the target, pity it didn’t get him too.
It's a given that the Western press will generally put a pro-Ukrainian/anti-Russian slant on things but interesting to read a diary account by a Russian soldier about his time in Ukraine published in the Washington Post. Can't all be verified, but if true, perhaps the tide is now turning against Putin. Poorly led, poorly equipped, scared, admitting to atrocities and disillusioned. In the meantime Ukranian groups in occupied areas are ramping up guerrilla style attacks.
Whilst the war is sadly likely to drag on for several more months yet maybe this is an indication that the Russian people themselves may force Putin's hand. Just hope that when the day comes Putin and his cronies are made to pay personally.
