After WW2 the Russian government banned all western music and so a bootleg industry grew,some of the bootlegs was cut onto old X-rays and if you put your album up to the light bones could be seen through it

On about the Russians, during the Cold War their customs officials were convinced that a bloke was smuggling. He was in and out every week and no matter how carefully they searched his luggage they never found anything. In the end he announced that he was retiring so they said to him that he might as well tell them what he’d been smuggling all those years and they wouldn’t charge him, they just wanted to know. So he told them.

I’m not entirely sure that your story is true griff as I’ve heard different versions of the same story over the years and apart from anything Russians aren’t known to take smuggling lightly and suspect that they would take the smuggler out back “for a quiet word”
