Guehi

Wouldn't be entirely surprised to see Chalobah rock up here at some point in the next couple of weeks.

He was supposed to have been at fault in the lead up to Brentford’s first goal too

I was thinking about this on the back of Schar having a 3 match ban, but Guehi was never talked about in terms of being even a 50m player before the Euro’s.

We’ve seen far too many players look good in tournament football that never deliver in the league

But what I did think… given how defensive Southgate is and how he setup his teams, then any decent CB should look good… they are getting so much protection then they’d have to be pretty sh!t to look anything other than good.

Don’t get me wrong I think he’s a decent player, but not worth 70m

Very valid points. I wasn't aware of him much before the Euros.

The performance today was the display of a man who has had his head turned.

Possibly could have seen a red and Mbumo turned him inside out for the first goal.

Average player at best, a shortages as well

With FFP and the price quoted, I think that going for Guehi is us putting all the chips on the table.
How likely is that he’ll perform up to the pricetag? If we get that german lad from Milan, we at least have a second shot next window.

I genuinely hope we walk away now, with some dignity and self respect. Im sure the lad wants to come but the way Parrish has behaved I wouldnt give him the satisfaction, I would go out quietly and buy Thiaw, and have no contact with Palace at all. Let them read about it in the press when the Thiaw deals all done, they will have one VERY unhappy player on their hands and deservedly so!

It's getting to the stage now, though, where there'll be huge pressure on him to live uo to the hype and the price tag if he does come.

He played like a player who wasn't expecting to be there and didn't really want to be.

I see palace have almost signed a CB. . . could be something happens after that.

I know money in football is almost unfathomable but £70+ million for a centre back is absurd. Other than Virgil van Dijk, I can’t think of any other CBs approaching that amount who have turned out to be worth the money. Dias and Gvardiol at Man City maybe.

I hope we call it a day and look outside of the Premier League for cheaper options who might even exceed the ability/potential of Guehi. Makes you wonder why we employ an army of scouts if we’re fixated on PL players.
