To answer your question m_m I have no idea. I can only assume it's because Wrexham, Chesterfield and Stockport or similar sized clubs have spent considerable sums on transfer fees and we haven't. That's my best guess where UTMs comments came from.

The people were right :)
Personally I'm not surprised we haven't got the top budget in the league but I always thought we were financially competitive. I'd class 4-5th in the league as being competitive and IB shouldn't complain. If he does a really good job in charge he should finish higher than that. We shouldn't finish below 6th IMO hence my big season long bet.
Not sure how you get from that to a conclusion that "the owners are relatively speaking, skint"!
Skint compared to Hollywood FC, Insurance Chesterfield and local boy done good Stockport? If so yes we can't compete with those 3 in the transfer market.
Yes, as well as the vast majority of clubs above us in the pyramid.
Year in, year out we fall further behind yet another club or two that we'd have once looked down upon from a great height, even if we still get better gates than them. Every other club seems to be able to attract wealthier and or more competent owners than us.......

There is a difference between we can't compete and won't compete.
If the owners have set what they feel is a competitive and sensible budget, it would be irresponsible to throw it out of the window because others are splashing cash.
For me, the owners are competent and any talk about them going is very premature.
As for how much wealth they have, I don't know and don't actually care.
UTM, just because our owners haven't given us the top budget in the league, doesn't tell us how wealthy they are. It is their money and can be spent how they choose.
I thought I read some time ago, they said they would give a competitive budget up to championship level. If you really don't like how they operate, and prefer non guaranteed success from big spending, feel free to switch allegiance to Wrexham or Chesterfield.
People are allowed their opinions of course, but yours seem overly critical of the club at the moment.
I know it’s difficult for the fans of any club, but we have to be patient. The owners, in combination with IB, seem to have a long term plan which is similar to the Brentford model. Brentford didn’t achieve their success in the space of one season (I’ve forgotten how many playoff failures they had) and we won’t either.
But to me it appears that we’re now getting it right off the pitch, and that can be the basis of long term success. Unlike splashing out on a few expensive signings.
