Absolutely, Jacqui McShee was never a member of Fairport Convention, she has been a guest singer at the Cropredy festival, but then so has Robert Plant!! But was never a member. I am on nodding terms with some of the band and have followed them since 1976, with never a year going by without seeing them live at least once.
Don't be fooled by GP's comparison. She knocked out a few decent songs for FC. She didn't stagger on stage, not knowing what day it was, head spinning, miming the lyrics from the previous song then finally falling flat on her face. ;)
Yes very old. A sweet little dear, with an empty bottle of blonde stuff!
I’ll be playing some Groundhogs today, in tribute to Tony McPhee, leader of that band and expert blues rock guitarist who died yesterday. Seen him many times and he always delivered. Rock On Tony
The news is too often not the news rA, and I don’t just mean the BBC.
Another ‘cat’ who passed away recently (I’m writing an obit for my mag) is drummer Dickie Harrell, the last of Gene Vincent’s Blue Caps. A guy I met at rock’n’roll events a few times and friendly to all, RIP Dickie too
None of us are spring chickens anymore so it's hardly surprising, really, that hardly a day goes by without somebody we've seen or listened to shuffling off this mortal coil.
Aye its a sign of the times. On a more positive note, I saw Roger waters last night and can confirm the 79 year old is still on top form and delivered an excellent 2hrs 40 mins audio visual experience.
