The bloke just doesn?t have any credits in the managerial bank. By way of previous achievements, charisma, style of football, managerial bounce, long periods of good results, incredible game management, theres nothing the average fan can look on and think *results/performances are terrible at the moment but ?* .
You can see what hes trying to achieve when you see the goal we scored at Donny. Team goal moving a side back and forth with no need for individual brilliance. But lets be honest, how often have we done that this season?
Its pretty much pointless looking at the league table; everyone whos watched us regularly knows how we got there, who got us there, and where we are heading without them. For all the effect he has, the head coach might as well be sitting in the stands with the rest of us.
Maynard doesn't have a standout result, a game that we've clearly won against the odds. He's going to have to achieve this at least once for us to get promoted this season and if it's the play offs another three times. He'll never overachieve at Notts.

No idea if Mace will be calling us all numpties for being doom merchants or pressing the panic button himself. I'll be tuning in to find out.
Of course, as we all remember, it only started happening for Pavis after he turned his attention to doing up the ground. it all took off for him after the ground was re-built. Who can forget playing against Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool season after season, with every seat in the ground taken. What great days they were.
Dunnett, too, once he built the sports hall and finished installing the executive boxes, we became part of the furniture in the top flight. His best days were undoubtedly after Sirrel moved upstairs and Lloyd took over.
Look at Fword. Finally realised that changing managers wasn't the answer, stuck with Chris Hughton who got them to where they are now on the riches generated by their padel court and fan space.
Has any appointment perceived by the fans as underwhelming or with baggage ever managed to win the fans over? None that I can remember - from Larry Lloyd through to Gary Brazil, to Keith Curle, to Stuart Maynard, and many more along the way.
As a manager/head coach, you’re hoping to be given a little credit when you hit a bad spell, but none of these got this because they weren’t greeted with any enthusiasm from the beginning. Curle’s arguably the only one there who deserved a little more respect, but his association with Mansfield overrode that.
