To be fair, I work and know a few sensible Huns. Their choice of football team is down to bad luck. Anyway, none of them want Gerrard. They didn't want Mcinnes, Pedro or Warbuton. Not because they want some big name but because they realise they need someone with a backbone and someone that is tactically astute rather than just looking to spend a **** load of money on duds only to be outclued by Rodgers again and again.
They all know the Gerrard thing is a lose/lose situation.
If he turns up, he'll be as bad as those before him.
If he turns them down it'll be funny as **** and it'll show to everyone watching, who wouldn't normally care (media down south, etc.) that they are amateurs. Any good reputation they do have with people will be gone.
Forget the idea of administration. This is where it's at.
The Hun board are maybe clearer-eyed than we think in pursuing Gerrard.
His job won't be to get them challenging for the title. They know that's not happening unless they appoint Merlin as their next boss with Gandalf as his number 2.
His job will be to shift season tickets, massively inflate the media hype, and improve their (still probably very slim) chances of serious investment. Even the Weegia will find it hard to sell the likes of Steve Clarke (who by then will probably have lost at least 4 out of 5 post split games) as the guy with the magic wand that makes them champions. And that goes double for just about any of the experienced SPL managers they should be looking at.
Gerrard is a much more plausible superhero: he's single-handedly won the Champions League (allegedly), never lost an away match at Motherwell and the Tims haven't slaughtered him X times in a row. We could expect about 53 gazillion media stories of the "Gerrard walked on water at Anfield. Now he can transform Rangers into Euro challengers" variety. Guff of course, but the more gullible among the Orcs - about 95% at the last count - will swallow it whole.
Obviously it won't address their real problem which is that the unwashed will start doing walking away as soon as it penetrates their thick skulls that humiliation at the hands of the Tims isn't just the only item on today's menu, it's all there will ever be on the table from now on - whether this version of Hunnery limps on or not. But it defers Armageddon for a little bit. Maybe. And maybe something will turn up.
You have to love the media in this country

Did you listen to his ridiculous interview with Sky Sports. He basically said a good manager could be able to turn Rangers around ie challenge Celtic without necessarily requiring a lot of investment and cited Rodgers improvement of Celtic as an example. The boys a complete spanner.
