Mm a bit of an assumption that really, the motivation of those that buy football clubs are many and varied. Mel presumably saw a chance to be a local hero and get the club into the pre. Clowes going by what he said, bought it because he couldn't bear to see the club he supports go into liquidation, Those that bought Newcastle are looking to use it as a way of improving their reputation and influence. Others go into it to make money (Mike Ashley) others yes want the glory and I guess others just want to own a local piece of the community and its history and are under no illusion that they will either get any glory or take the club beyond where it is now.

Yes they all would like to progress, but most have a limit on what they can spend to achieve that and most probably never will.

If Mickleover Sports win their first game of the season is it not as enjoyable for the 300 odd fans as for Chelsea's fans if they win theirs Andy?? Of course it is! Patently that's not the case for TTR, it's the PL or nothing.
I played football because I loved it, I watched it, and still do, because I loved it!! So long as I can still watch it and love it my ambition in that respect is satisfied. Must my team be in the PL before I am allowed to enjoy it?? Should I look down on Alfreton Town FC because they are small fry and remind them that they will never win the PL. If I did then I would be a cretin and a stupid one at that.
If you can only support success then it's time to look for something else, it's the playing not the winning!!

Your persepctive is not the norm. I repsect it, but are you seriously talling me, that any club followed by football supporters don't/wouldn't push for their team to be as good as it could be?
That just enjoying "football" is what they want?

Just to remind you, now that you mention the enjoyment side of it.
We all watch it for that reason and are you saying that watching Mickleover is better/ more entertaining than watching Brazil / Barcelona/ Liverpool?

Of course not, we all enjoy watching the best footballers turf up th best football.
We'll see how enntertained you are at the end of the season in the 3rd tier. Its awful entertainment wise, no matter how nostalgic you are.

Tricky, just to throw my perspective as a predominantly armchair fan. Last season I watched more National League games in TV than I did Premiership games. I have Sky and BT Sport's, plus Amazon Prime, so could have watched 100s of PL games, but had no interest in it. I maybe watched 6 National League games and of course a reasonable amount of Championship games

I respect your opinion TTR and I hope you enjoy the PL but I genuinely prefer watching schools football to the PL! Yes it's kick and rush and when I was coaching kids it was hard work but so so enjoyable! If you find the PL enjoyable then great, I don't!
I'd like to see The Rams play good football this year and have a good season but I won't yearn for the PL and despite having Sky Sports I shall see very little of it. No doubt Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea will fill the top 3 spots
with Manure, Arsenal and Spurs scrambling for the 4th spot! Yawn!! If that's entertaining then great but I'll stick with a game of solitaire.

I don't have Sky sports, but had Forest player.
However I did watch quite a few prem games at my sons house with him.
My thoughts were Christ, just how good are these and the quality of football was so much better.
Champs league games as well.
I couldn't dream of my crew doing it.
It probably won't last, we know we are up against it.
But the showmanship, is to be enjoyed. You know what I mean, take Wembley play offs. You have experianced both ends of the stick.
Did you go there to win, or just for the day out?
I went for both and got it.
I certainly am glad I didn't come away broken hearted, thinking all well, at least we tried.
I may even have to sell my sould and go back to Sky now, as a season ticket isn't happening.

I used to juggle work to watch my lad play for school/ Notts schools /academies
But my reasons were personal, than the joy of the football served.

I would probably be very anti PL. If I had to pay Arsenal or Chelsea ticket prices though. That's hwere the real gripes kick in.
As said, 23 years away has changed my persepctive.
It's money driven I know, but Clough did warn everyone.

Youll soon get bored of the premiership when the limit of the ”bantz” is how you can or cant afford to pay an utter tw@t 180k a week, and the limit of their humour is shouting about how Vardy did a silly celebration in front of you, oh and not to mention var and how its only set up to produce artificial contreversy lol.

Youll also come to realise your just there to make up the number, even Leicester have found that out once the novelty of their title win wore off.

The premiership is all tik tok vids and its all about a brand and the money its not about winning trophies and youll soon find that out

Good luck because once the money runs out youll be ditched for the next money bag club that goes splashing the cash..

I dont think Forest fans realise their hypocrisy on this one, they were whining about Norwich having an advantage a couple of seasons back... good luck breaking through the glass ceiling ie trying to break into the top 12.

I am genuinely excited about our upcoming season, more than i can remember in recent times. I can't put my hand on my heart and say i wouldn't rather be in the premier league, of course i would, provided we could at least try and compete, which we didn't even seem to try and do last time (remember signing eddie lewis and thinking oh my god).

I do think though there is a good buzz around Derby right now, the season tickets sold for a L1 club to date in such a short space of time shows that. I can honestly say despite what i have said about the PL that i am not jealous one bit of Forest, Derby is what matters, i really dont care if Forest do well or don't, its what happens at Derby that matters most.

Forest fans, not all of course but a good portion of them, do seem a bit weird in this respect, at a time they should be really getting excited about the PL there a lot still seem to be getting more pleasure from our relegation and current status, thats just weird, and like last time when we got relegated from the PL they seemed to get more enjoyment from this, and still sing about it, than they did from their promotion from L1, also weird. If i was a Forest fan right now what Derby are or arent doing would barely even register.

Its like dating Margot Robbie but getting more enjoyment out the fact that your mate is going out with susan boyle.
