I don't even see it as a talking point, and I don't get why Rovers fans would get swept up in a media frenzy (that died ages ago) that only has legs because smaller more envious clubs cross their fingers.
Couldn't agree more. Find it a bit strange when Rovers fans take as fact the wildly optimistic doom mongering of some dingles with a very obvious hidden agenda.[/quote]
Your never going to get a logical view on things if your 'one of those' Rovers/Dingles.
There is nothing in this FFP at all. Why do folk get so sucked into poor journalism time after after time ...t

Lets not dismiss this FFP thing out of hand ..it will come into play ..Man City at the moment along with other European clubs awaiting their punishment ..
As to what Sanctions/Fines Championship clubs will receive who knows but according to the Rules.. December 2014 we will be i think when we will know more.
As for Rhodes ? If someone from the Premiership can see something that we cant regarding his talent then they will come a sniffing ..thats football ...but it will be at a price ..we aint going to just let him go for nothing ..(unless FFP dictates otherwise )

What City have been fined for is not being explained properly. Again poor journalism. It relates to FFP but its not the same kind of thing. And if the fine in proportion of the suggested breaking of rules is anything to go by, then I expect us to get a A£0.10p fine. City got about A£800k (which they dont feel will go any higher) which in proportion to their riches is noth

Champs, I think you are not reading my concerns / observations quite right.
My concerns are not FFP per se, they are towards our 'financial state'.
The reason Venkys are here are because the Walker Trust did not particularly like the financial burdens and implications of modern day football, even though they similarly did not seem to care for football full stop.
We have now moved onto and under 'business people' who care for football and in particular BRFC ?
I am not all that sure, so the question remains: how long are they prepared to sit as our owners and balance the books somehow.?
re: How Long Does Rhodes Have Left On His Contract?
Howie, the 800k thing with City was in todays MEN.
I will get home & have a look at whats come to light in the last few hours.
I dont want anything bad to happen to Rovers. But if this FFP, if its enforceable, will destroy lots of clubs. The richer ones will get hefty fines. It probably needed to happen for the good of the game. That has been ruined by benefactors coming in and spending their wealth. Its createc an uneven ground in football, if your not filthy rich, dont bother.
If it means the arse falling out of football for everyone to be on a fair, even grounding then fine. Even if that risks our club.
I will believe it when it happens. There's alot of bigger clubs than us who will be hit alot harder than us. You should get to where you get to based on meerit, not money anyway. City would never have won a Prem title without vast sums of money. Neither would Rovers.

Didn't that happen during the nineties Champs ? O:)

Alf, you know me by now. I'm not one of these that pretends that never happened. Of course it began in the 90's. It started the day we paid 10k a week in summer 1994 to Chris Sutton and for the second time in less than 12 months broke the British transfer fee. Sky's impact on the Brish game had a far greater effect. As we are unfashionable, that gets rolled out time and time again. Yet the fact all these huge Prem clubs who have spent more, and won nowt barley gets a mention. Didn't Spurs just spend 100m last summer on crap players, to finish outside of the top 6? That's obsecne. But being southern and fashionable they are again exempt from criticism, while it's easy to pick on little old Rovers. Easy targets.
re: How Long Does Rhodes Have Left On His Contract?
Champs, Approx three years ago a vote was taken re FFP by the 24 members of the Championship.
21 of the 24 voted in favour of FFP and the present rules,so surely it is fair to assume all clubs in the championship knew the rules.
If clubs for whatever reason chose not to abide by the rules they must have realised there would be a price to pay.
Todays news that City have been fined 50 million and had their squad size reduced to 21 players should indicate the powers that be are serious re FFP.
As you say lets wait and see what action the FL will take come New Year.
re: How Long Does Rhodes Have Left On His Contract?
On a serious note does anyone really think Mr Rhodes will be playing for rovers come August ?
I think he will go to a smaller premiership club and not Burnley maybe Leicester / stoke / Norwich ?
