I agree but I also think we looked sharper/quicker when Bryson came on.Don't know who I'd have taken off for him tho although I didn't think Ward had his best game.Quote:

Mistakes happen, players make them, managers make them, we all make them.
The players were immense yesterday, Keogh and Buxton were fantastic- remind me how much trouble the highly rated future ENGLAND star Charlie Austin caused us?
One big mistake cost us and that was born of inexperience.
The players were magnificent, I couldn't have asked more from them. Steve Mac is now a god and worthy of forming a new religion around (that's not a bad idea actually, I may consider putting that together).
Mac didn't get it wrong any more than he didn't get it right, it just wasn't our day. We'll learn from it and come back stronger. Meanwhile QPR will probably be in admin and end up in the conference.
Great season, loved it (apart from the last couple of minutes). Roll on August.
If we had cleared our lines and gone into extra time with Ward or Hendrick or whoever should have gone off instead of Russell and Hughes scoring the winner, then we would be talking about what a tactical genius he is and how he got it bang on. We lost, and didn't deserve to lose but these things happen, move on and look forward to next season, where we are actually favoured from the start and have a real go where if we got automatic promotion, not many would be completely surprised.

Reading all these threads has really been very therapeutic for me.Thanks guys.I'm actually looking forward to next season now.August can't come soon enough & now we get to stuff the Wolves next season which gives me great satisfaction as I live amongst them!!!

Its all very easy to say after the fact we should have done this or that but...for me Dawkins was or even is not a Derby player...he was pretty rubbish in fact
And as for bringing on Bamford for another forward ????? Whats the point in that ??? Then the keeper comes up for a corner...why not take off a defender Wisdom or Forsyth ...ya got 5 mins ffs
And the team itself didnt have the killer instinct after they went to 10 men...they thought like we all did this will be a stroll...and we & they paid the price
I do think he made a mistake in taking Russell off instead of Ward - Russell was causing problems and whilst Ward often steps up in the bigger games, he was clearly drained in the last 20 minutes.
You can't blame him for us failing to score though, other than the goal and the occasional hoof up the pitch (which Bucko / Keogh dealt with fine except for that final **** up), I don't remember the ball leaving the QPR half. Poor crossing from Ward, and Dawkins probablt had his worst game in a Derby shirt. He was free in the penalty box twice and froze / passed it back, and also got in good shooting positions outside the box and froze.
There were some excellent opportunities that on another night would have went in...
- Martin's shot that came off the keepers elbow onto the post.
- Ward's chest down and volley that was heading for the bottom corner but hit Martin
- Russell's hack down for the sending off (I'd have bet my house on him scoring that)
- When Hughes was through but gambled
I would have taken Hendrick off for Bryson. Hughes was brilliant yesterday. Completely outwitted their midfield. Hendrick was fairly anonymous. Ward should have come off for Dawkins. Agree with everything everyone has said about Russell. However, two mistakes this season - can't be bad. Steve is a top top manager and we will be fine with him at the helm. Was gutted at the final whistle yesterday, but the blow is softening as I relish the prospect of next season. Had a great day out. The Green Man was immense. Brilliant to see Roger Davies, and his choice of song when we invited him ('Roger, Roger give us a song...')was inspired. Unfortunately, judging by the evidence on this board and certain others, Nottingham wasn't listening!! Even the QPR fans on the trains going back were acknowledging that they had been second best. It was strange. Their fans were very muted going back to Kings Cross, and we were still singing.
