worrying for Ox, hope he's ok. Pretty awful 2nd half for lambert, all in all, dropping or moving sturridge would be criminal.

apart from the fantastic goal he scored? :?Quote:

Definetely not enough to drop sturridge or shove him outwide. He is a great option though and i hope he gets some game time, but as i say dropping sturridge for him...criminal.
the issue is who's best in the system.
strurridge plays up front with suarez with gerrard supplying him for Liverpool. rickie is used to playing that lone role.
remember emile heskey? he was a donkey, couldn't hit a barn door...but England were a better team with him in!
it's a nice dilemma to have though. sturridge is a great goal scorer even if his touch leaves a lot to be desired.
Very true i suppose we are having the henderson/wishere debate again but this time you are going for the system rather than the player. However I don't think I saw enough difference in the performance to drop sturridge, and even though he will be playing a different system to his liverpool one i dont see him being isolated what with rooney et al just behind him.
no it's a completely different debate to the Henderson one.
sturridge is a very good striker. no doubt about it. I rate him. he's a good goal scorer. he's had a fantastic season.
the point I'm making is that although sturridge is a better all round player England are a better team with lambert spearheading the attack if we're going to play one up front.
I'm not saying sturridge will be isolated, just that lambert will be more effective.
the Henderson thing is nothing to do with the system. it's the player.
Yep he is there, unless he has left his ticket on a table somewhere.Quote:

I can't see this one happening in the tournament after that display ;DQuote:

I think specsavers owe me a refund, because I saw the game very differently to the opinions above :D
Ross Barclay is an average player, way overhyped. He is one footed, has limited vision and composure. He reminds me of Stephen Pearson!
Henderson is a better fit for our team than Wiltshere. Witshere works well in a good passing team - England are not that and Henderson is better on the ball when he has less time to deal with it.
I do agree with the sentiment that we are not good at the slow build from the back style. We shown last night that even passing accross our back 4 is too difficult. We just have to accept that our best hope is playing ugly football with lots of heart.
Up front, Wellbeck and Sturridge is our best 2. Wellbeck for his hold up play and flick ons, and sturridge for his finishing. Lambert gives us a good option, and I agree that if we play a lone striker then he would be the best option.
Otherwise, you chaps are watching through some funny specs ;)
apart from that, you've agreed with either me or triz on the list of points ;-) - view external linkQuote:
