I think its a waste of a valuable world recourse and if someone wishes to give to charity then just do so. Just attention seeking on the part of the participants, IMO.

Had a mate who died from motor neurone disease. Cut down, brutally, prematurely and unsentimentally. A generous and talented man who didn't deserve such suffering.
This is a good cause if you want to donate towards research into prevention and cure.
Celebrities seeking publicity is an unfortunate spin off from all this but if it raises awareness through publicity then personally have no problem with that.
Generally I prefer to chose which charity I give to and how but if nominated I would do it.Quote:

As Kernow says if it raises awareness it ok, but if whichever government is in charge didn't p!ss our money up the wall we wouldn't need to pass the begging bowls around like a certain lower division club.

And yet in a survey for the Independent it was found that over 50% of people who have done the challenge have not given to charity. Indeed, 60% did not even know which charity it was being done for.
There are plenty of ways to give to charities without being pressured into it by a viral stunt which has long gone p
So two days ago you weren't sure whether it was cool or not [source - post #1] and now others have said they're not doing it it's suddenly a "viral stunt" and you'll ignore your nomination.Quote:

Well I did say 2 days ago I was leaning towards the viral stunt angle so hardly a major change in thinking.
I am working out though if I can do a form of the Homer Simpson version. My garden does lend itself to that possibility.
